Exhibit 09: The Size Ladder
The Size Ladder, from a single atom to an ostrich egg, with bisphenol-A on the second rung.
A ladder of widths, each decade of size one equal step along the rule. An atom is 0.2 nanometres, bisphenol A about 1 nanometre, a nanoplastic particle about 100 nanometres, a bacterium about 1000 nanometres, a red blood cell about 7 micrometres, a microplastic fragment about 10 micrometres, and a human hair about 70 micrometres. Every marker is drawn the same size, so nothing on the rule implies a scale it does not have.
